Frequently Asked Questions

How does the 5% commission work?

We take 5% of the order total. If a customer buys £40 of produce from your farm, you receive £38. That's it — no listing fees, no subscription, no hidden charges. Compare to farmers' markets (stall fees + time) or supermarkets (30-40% margin).

How do farmers get paid?

Payments are processed through Stripe. When a customer places an order, the payment is held securely. Once the order is confirmed, the funds (minus our 5% commission) are deposited to the farmer's connected bank account, typically within 7 days.

Is the produce really direct from the farm?

Yes. We do not allow resellers, butchers, greengrocers, or middlemen on the platform. Every seller is a working farm that produces what they sell. Each product description states exactly which farm produced it.

How does shipping work?

Each farmer handles their own shipping. Most use Evri or Royal Mail for national delivery, typically on a next-day service for perishable items. Some farmers also offer local collection. Shipping options and costs are shown on each product page.

What if my order arrives damaged or wrong?

Contact the farmer directly through your order page. If the issue isn't resolved within 48 hours, contact us and we'll mediate. We hold payments until delivery is confirmed, so you're protected. See our Returns & Refunds policy for full details.

How do I become a seller?

If you're a working UK farm producing vegetables, fruit, meat, dairy, honey, herbs, baked goods, or drinks, you can list your products here. You'll need to register, create your farm profile, and add your products with descriptions and pricing.

Is my payment secure?

All payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment processor used by millions of businesses worldwide. We never see or store your full card details.

Can I collect in person?

Many farms offer local collection — check the individual product page. If a farm offers collection, you'll see it as a shipping option during checkout. This is a great way to meet your local farmer and save on delivery costs.

How fresh is the produce?

Products are packed and shipped directly by the farmer, often within 24 hours of harvesting or production. Unlike supermarket produce that can spend weeks in cold storage and distribution centres, farm-direct food reaches you much faster.

What areas do you deliver to?

We serve the entire United Kingdom. Individual farmers may have delivery radius restrictions for fresh items — check the product page. Most use national courier services that deliver anywhere in the UK within 1-2 days.

How do I track my order?

Once the farmer ships your order, you'll receive a tracking number via email. You can also view your order status on your Orders page.

Are prices set by farmers?

Yes. Every farmer sets their own prices. We never dictate pricing. This means you're paying what the farmer thinks is fair — not what a supermarket decides based on margin targets.

What's your refund policy?

If your order arrives damaged or spoiled, you're entitled to a full refund or replacement. Contact the farmer first, then escalate to us if needed. See our full Returns & Refunds policy.

Do you sell organic produce?

Yes. Many of our farms are certified organic. Look for the organic badge on product listings. Farmers can indicate whether their products are organically produced. We encourage transparency about farming methods.

Can I set up recurring orders?

Recurring orders (weekly/monthly farm boxes) are planned for a future update. In the meantime, you can re-order from the same farm through your order history. Sign up for our newsletter to be notified when subscriptions launch.
